Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has expressed his gratitude to the club’s former manager, Xavi Hernandez, for granting him the chance to make his professional debut with the Blaugrana.
Lamine Yamal received recognition for his crucial contribution to Barcelona’s 2-0 victory against rivals Espanyol on Thursday, which sealed the 2024–2025 La Liga title.
Under Hansi Flick’s leadership, Yamal excelled in the game, scoring two important goals and Fermin Lopez adding another to seal the team’s victory.
“I’d like to thank Xavi; without him, this achievement would not have been possible,” Yamal said after the final whistle, reflecting on the significance of Xavi’s influence in both his career and the team’s overall success.
The 17-year-old winger said, “He gave us the chance to make our debuts, and for that, I am really thankful,” underscoring the importance of Xavi’s belief in young players.
The following generation of Barcelona players was greatly aided by Xavi, a legendary player who not only wore the Barcelona uniform but also influenced the team’s tactics as a coach.
It should be noted that the Spanish strategist, who during his brief management tenure won a league title with Barcelona, is currently without a team.
