Wright, however, believed that Merino’s goal was the result of both Sánchez and Christopher Nkunku, who was positioned at the near post for Ødegaard’s corner.

Wright told Premier League Productions, “It’s a great header, but you look at the attention to detail from Nkunku.”

“The manager has put him there for that specific reason. That has lost them the game. Merino has excellent mobility, but he is only able to lead it because Nkunku isn’t doing his job.

Wright went on to say of Sánchez: “He shouldn’t be there. He must return to his line. It was odd.

“He’s got space where he is, but he’s got involved with an Arsenal player. He probably would have caught it if he was in the right position.

“At this level, the goalkeeping is really bad. It is insufficient.
