Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue North East Senatorial District have declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition will disintegrate within six months.
Speaking at an expanded caucus meeting of the PDP in Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area on Monday, Zonal Chairman, Hon. Abraham Waroh, said the coalition was formed by “greedy politicians who believe leadership is their birthright.”
Waroh accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of neglecting Ukum despite the massive support he received during the 2023 elections, describing the community’s current hardship—especially in agriculture—as a direct result of his administration’s failures.
He warned constituents to reject the ADC coalition, which he said was driven by individuals who had previously benefited from PDP leadership and are now leaving simply because they have exhausted all opportunities within the party.
Also speaking, PDP National Ex-Officio Barr. Clement Mue described members of the coalition as “corporate raiders” and predicted that the ADC would “die a natural death within six months.”
Prof. Tersoo Kpelai urged the people of Ukum not to be swayed, claiming divine insight into the matter, while Benjamin Shiaondo Ngugarna celebrated the departure of what he termed “enemies of justice and equity.”
Dr. Sylvester Atachin, represented by Prince Tyodoo, said the defectors had enjoyed every privilege in the PDP and were simply moving to a “new terrain” because they had run out of personal ambitions to fulfill within the party.
Elder Tswam Apetimin, Hon. Iorsoo Nyako, Elder Ikwe Jinawa, and Joseph Nengean Barrington, representing the Ucha, Ngenev, Mbaterem, and Torov clans respectively, passed a vote of confidence in former Governor Samuel Ortom. They lauded him for empowering sons of Ukum, citing recent appointments of Barr. Clement Mue as National Ex-Officio and Abraham Waroh as Zonal Chairman—both historic firsts for the zone.
