Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has called on PDP’s Asue Ighodalo to accept the Court of Appeal’s verdict, which affirmed his victory in the 2024 governorship election.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary Fred Itua, Okpebholo said the unanimous decision of the appellate court validated the will of the people and should mark the end of legal hostilities.
“This ruling confirms the people’s mandate,” the statement read. “It’s time for Ighodalo, abandoned even by his godfather, Godwin Obaseki, to put politics aside and join us in building a prosperous Edo.”
The governor lauded the judiciary’s impartiality, describing the ruling as a “victory not just for the APC but for democracy itself.”
He urged the opposition to reflect on the judgment and avoid distractions that could derail governance.
Governor Okpebholo reiterated his commitment to his “People First” agenda, promising accelerated development across key sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
