The President of the State of Birland, HRM Dr. Emir Haiyawi, has announced the appointment of Nigerian Ambassador Prof. Joseph Legend Mfon, FIMC, CMC, FIOGR, as the Minister of Environment. The official decree was issued on June 13, 2023, and was jointly signed by the Prime Minister, H.R.M Prof. Queen Eden Soriano Trinidad.
The State of Birland, Africa’s newest country and the 55th on the continent, is located between Sudan and Egypt, covering a landmass of 2,060 hectares. This nation has gained recognition and support from various countries.
Ambassador Dr. Joseph Legend Mfon’s role as Minister of Environment will involve representing and protecting the interests and citizens of the State of Birland. He will also work towards initiating and facilitating strategic agreements, treaties, and conventions, as well as promoting information, trade, commerce, technology, and friendly bilateral relations with other countries.
The President of the State of Birland emphasized that a policy on humanitarian diplomacy has been established to provide a more effective framework for advancing the core objectives of National Societies and the International Federation. This policy is designed to support and enhance the key messages of these organizations without altering their substance. It complements and supports existing policies, programs, and strategies of the International Federation.
The appointment of Ambassador Joseph Legend Mfon is expected to strengthen bilateral ties between the State of Birland and other countries due to his diplomatic skills, qualities, attitude, and candor.
