The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has promised to visit all 36 states every year and hold regular town hall meetings if elected president in 2027.
Obi said the visits and town halls will enable him to explain government policies, listen to citizens and ensure balanced attention to all regions.
He made the pledge during a TikTok livestream where he outlined his governance approach and called for politics based on competence, not ethnicity.
The former Anambra governor said his vision is inclusive development across the six geopolitical zones.
“I want to see a thriving South-West, South-South, South-East, North-East, North-West, North-Central, everyone in Nigeria,” Obi said.
He pledged to spend his holidays in different states to remain close and accessible to Nigerians.
Obi also proposed monthly or bi-monthly town hall meetings to break down government decisions, policies and projects for citizens.
According to him, the forum will give Nigerians opportunity to understand government actions and voice their concerns.
He cited his experience as Anambra governor as proof that direct public engagement works.
The NDC candidate urged voters to judge candidates by competence, capacity, compassion, commitment and character, not tribe.
“I don’t want people to follow me, vote for me because it’s my turn because I’m an Igbo man, I don’t, I’m not looking for sympathy,” he said.
He insisted the 2027 race should be about who can lead, not whose turn it is, as parties gear up for campaigns centred on governance, unity and regional development.
