‎Malawi’s netball team, the Queens, were very ruthless against Nigeria, beating the Green Hawks 82–22 in their Pool 2 Africa Qualifiers fixture to secure their place at the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

‎It was a commanding display of total control.

‎

‎Malawi set the tone from the first whistle, taking a 21–6 lead at the end of the opening quarter and extending it to 40–11 by half-time.

‎

‎The second half brought no respite for Nigeria: the Queens added 23 goals to Nigeria’s three in the third quarter, moving to 63–14, before closing out the match with a further 19 goals to complete the 82–22 win.

‎

‎The first quarter saw Malawi lead Nigeria by 21-6.

‎

‎They almost doubled the lead in the second quarter, as Malawi finished 40–11.

‎

‎The story was not different in the third quarter, as Malawi won by 63-14.

‎

‎The fourth and final quarter ended Malawi 82–22 Nigeria.

‎

‎The victory extends Malawi’s record to three wins from three in Pool 2, following their earlier victories over Zambia and Kenya.

‎

‎With qualification for Sydney 2027 now confirmed, the Queens can approach their final group-stage fixture with the pressure lifted.

‎

‎They will face Uganda on Wednesday, 23 September, looking to round off an unbeaten group-stage campaign on the back of a 60-goal margin of victory over Nigeria.
