The Plateau State Government has imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following renewed killings and security threats.

The curfew was announced on Monday, September 21, 2026, by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni.

According to the statement, movement is restricted between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM daily, effective today until further notice.

The government said the measure taken by the “Time is Now” administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is to enable security agencies to stabilize the affected areas, protect lives and prevent breakdown of law and order.

Residents of the affected LGAs are advised to comply fully and plan their commercial, agricultural and personal activities within the permitted hours.

Security operatives have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew and the ban on the use of motorcycles in the affected areas, while operating with professionalism.

The curfew follows the killing of five Fulani herders travelling from Bokkos to the Kara Cattle Market in Bukuru. The victims were reportedly attacked around Kassa in Barkin Ladi LGA.

The victims were identified as Buhari Yusuf, Aminu Ahmad, Nasiru Abdullahi, Gambo Abubakar and Muhammad Abdul Rahman.

The incident was said to have triggered reprisal attacks on farming communities in Barkin Ladi and Mangu, leading to further deaths.

On September 20, 2026, at least 15 persons, including Fulani pastoralists travelling in an open van to sell their cows and some farmers, were reportedly killed.

The government said it is investigating the incidents and called for calm, warning that innocent persons should not be targeted on the basis of ethnic or religious identity.
