The Plateau State Government has declared an immediate, dusk-to-dawn curfew across Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas to maintain public order and curb emerging security threats in the region.

Plateau State issued the statement on Monday 21st September, 2026 in Jos.
Effective today, Monday, September 21, 2026, the restriction of movement is between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM until further notice.
The “Time is Now” Administration led by His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang,Esq,has taken the measure to allow law enforcement agencies to stabilize the area, protect lives, and prevent any breakdown of law and order within local communities.
Therefore, all residents of affected Local Government Areas are expected to fully comply with the government’s directive for their own safety. Citizens are advised to plan their daily commercial, agricultural, and personal activities strictly around the restriction hours to avoid unnecessary hardship or friction during the quiet hours.
So far, security operatives have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew and the ban on use of motor cycles with immediate effect throughout the affected jurisdiction. While reassuring law-abiding citizens that security personnel will operate with professionalism.
”You recalled that there was brutal killing of five innocent Fulani herders while travelling from Bokkos Local Government Area to the Kara Cattle Market in Bukuru.
The tragic incident occurred around Kassa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, where the victims were reportedly attacked . This senseless act has once again thrown their families and the Fulani community into grief and mourning.
Also reprisal attacks on farmers by the Fulani in Barkin Ladi, Mangu leading to the deaths of many people.
The killing in Plateau is now a recurring tragedy that has continued to cause fear, pain, and insecurity among communities.
Innocent people travelling for their legitimate activities should now become targets of violence simply because of their ethnic or religious identity.
What happened around Kassa is deeply disturbing and deserves serious attention from the relevant security agencies. The circumstances surrounding the attack should be thoroughly investigated, and anyone found responsible should be brought to justice.
The authorities must act before these repeated killings and reprisals further deepen mistrust and create another cycle of violence in Plateau State.
The families of Buhari Yusuf, Aminu Ahmad, Nasiru Abdullahi, Gambo Abubakar, and Muhammad Abdul Rahman deserve justice. Their deaths should not be forgotten.
Also on the 20th September 2026, at least no fewer than 15 persons including Fulani pastoralists travelling in an open van to a market to sell their cows,and some farmers were reported killed .
