‎Gov Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and focused, warning them against sacrificing their future for temporary pleasure.

‎The governor gave the advice on Tuesday, at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, Bayelsa.

‎Diri, who was represented by his Executive Assistant on NYSC Matters, Hon Wisdom Poyeri, commended the corps members for their discipline, resilience, and active participation throughout the three-week orientation programme.

‎He urged them to uphold the values acquired in camp, stressing that the decisions they make during their service year would determine their future.

‎”Do not jeopardise your future for temporary pleasure. Remain law-abiding, diligent, focused, and worthy ambassadors of the NYSC and your families,” the governor said.

‎Diri also assured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to providing a peaceful, secure, and enabling environment throughout their service year.

‎”Bayelsa is your home for the next one year. Make it count, and make the state proud,” he added.

‎Earlier, the Bayelsa State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, congratulated the corps members for successfully completing the orientation course.

‎Pepple urged them to uphold the discipline, patriotism, and spirit of national unity instilled in them during the exercise, while making meaningful contributions to their host communities.

‎He encouraged them to carry out their assignments with dedication, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

‎The ceremony attracted representatives of key security agencies, including: the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Joint Task Force.

‎Also in attendance were: the Camp Commandant, Deputy Camp Director, the traditional ruler of Kolokuma Kingdom, and other senior military, security, and government officials.
