Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has urged members of the Kwara Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to unite and work as one family to defeat the APC in the 2027 elections.
Saraki gave the charge on Thursday in Ilorin while receiving Senator Saliu Mustapha of Kwara Central and Dr Baba Giya Kolo, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.
In a statement by his Press Officer on Local Matters, AbdulGaniyu AbdulQadir, Saraki described the defection as a bold step towards rebuilding and developing Kwara State.
The former Senate President called on PDP members to bury past divisions across wards and local government areas.
“There is no more G1 or G2; today, we belong to one big family and should operate as such,” he declared.
Saraki, in a light moment, said Senator Mustapha’s ability to recognise PDP members by faces and names showed he had a long history with the party structure.
He urged the party to remain focused on 2027, describing the APC, under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as the common political enemy the PDP must collectively defeat.
Saraki also stressed power-sharing and inclusive governance, charging PDP candidates to remember the people’s sacrifices and ensure dividends of democracy are distributed fairly when elected.
Earlier, Mustapha appreciated the PDP family under Saraki’s leadership, the State Working Committee (SWC) led by Hon Issa Adamu Bawa, and party elders for the warm reception accorded him and his supporters.
