An Ekiti-born public administrator and policy analyst, Dr. Olusola John Ojo, has commended Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele on his ₦200 million annual commitment to the development of the Federal University of Technology, Environment and Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, describing the pledge as a decisive step toward strengthening higher education in the state.

Senator Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District and serves as a Leader of the 10th Senate, restated his commitment to transforming the university into a world-class institution.

The Senator said the funding would be used to enhance teaching, research, staff development, and infrastructure, positioning the institution to compete with top universities globally.

In a statement made available to journalists, Dr. Ojo, said the intervention is timely, coming when many public universities across Nigeria are facing funding challenges.

He added that the Senator’s sustained support is expected to improve academic programs, research output, and institutional infrastructure to global standards.

Dr. Ojo said the administration’s policies reflect a firm commitment to addressing structural weaknesses in public finance and governance. He highlighted that investments in education are central to human capital development, innovation, and national progress.

According to him, this breadth of experience informs his appreciation for the importance of structured and sustained support for public institutions.

“Investing in education is one of the most enduring legacies a leader can leave,” Dr. Ojo said. “Senator Bamidele’s commitment demonstrates that leadership is not only about legislation but also about creating tangible opportunities and ensuring future generations have the resources to compete globally.”

He added that Ekiti State has historically produced scholars, educators, and professionals who have contributed significantly to national development.

Dr. Ojo said the Senator’s pledge would reinforce this tradition, raise the profile of the state’s higher education system, and inspire other leaders to prioritize education as a tool for social and economic progress.

Dr. Ojo concluded that by committing to sustained support for the Federal University of Technology, Environment and Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, Senator Bamidele has demonstrated foresight, dedication, and a strategic approach to governance.

He called on government agencies, private sector partners, and stakeholders to complement the effort to ensure the university achieves its full potential as a world-class institution.
