President Bola Tinubu on Monday (today) met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Some political leaders from the state were also present at the meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Details of the meeting were not made public as of the time of filing this report.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, comes amid the lingering political tension in Rivers State involving key stakeholders.
According to The Nation, sources familiar with the development said discussions were centred on issues affecting the state, although no official statement was released after the engagement.
The source noted that after the meeting, Governor Fubara accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja.
The source further claimed that the governor appealed to the minister during the visit and pledged to maintain respect in their relationship going forward.
Fubara was said to have begged the minister, vowing never to disrespect him again.
This was not the first time President Tinubu had met with the two political leaders, especially on political tension in Rivers State.
