Benue RAAMP working towards achieving targets – Ijoh

The management of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Benue State is working round the clock to achieve its targets, the Development Communication Officer of the agency, Stephen Ijoh, has said.

This is even as the counterpart funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB) is yet to be redeemed.

“We are working assiduously to ensure the mission is achieved,” he told New National Star on Tuesday, adding that the Benue State Government had paid its counterpart funding long ago.

He noted that the delay was on the part of the EIB.

“The moment the funds are remitted, the project will commence in earnest,” he stated.

Ijoh explained that the project is a joint venture between Nigeria and the European Union.

“We were supposed to have commenced fully, but financial constraints remain our major challenge. However, skeletal works are ongoing at the instance of the state governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, who has been supporting us to carry out some activities rather than remain idle.

“As soon as the funds are received, full-scale work will commence in all the 23 local government areas of the state,” he added.
