Osun 2026: Adeleke Clinches Accord Party Ticket After Securing 145 Votes

    Published on

Governor Ademola Adeleke has emerged as the Accord Party’s governorship candidate for the August 8, 2026 election in Osun State, following a primary in which he secured 145 of 150 valid votes.

The primary, monitored by INEC officials in Osogbo on Wednesday, saw five votes declared invalid. Announcing the results, Electoral Committee Chairperson Mariam Saleh—represented by Secretary Abdulazeez Salaudeen—said the exercise adhered to the party’s rules.

Saleh urged party members to see the smooth primary as evidence of Accord’s readiness to contest power. National Chairman Maxwell Ngbudem later presented Adeleke with a certificate of return, expressing optimism about the party’s chances.

In his acceptance speech, Adeleke said his nomination symbolised continuity of the “golden movement” and pledged to prioritise workers’ welfare, infrastructure expansion, agro-industrial growth, and social-sector innovation if re-elected.

Adeleke had on Tuesday night confirmed his defection from the PDP to the Accord Party, revealing he joined the party over a month ago in preparation for his re-election bid.
