Lagos APC mocks ADC over ultimatum to Peter Obi

    Published on

The Lagos State chapter of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its public directive asking Peter Obi to clarify his 2027 presidential ambition, describing the development as evidence of confusion within the opposition.

The APC’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Tuesday, said the ADC’s position exposed a party lacking ideology, cohesion or strategic direction.

“Nigeria woke up to yet another episode of opposition disarray and ideological bankruptcy,” Oladejo said, adding that ADC’s contradictory statements amounted to “confusion on steroids.”

He said the ADC had veered from rejecting zoning to issuing ultimatums to a potential aspirant it once promoted, arguing that the party’s internal structure appeared designed to serve the ambition of a single individual.

According to him, the ADC’s openness to zoning suggested that the party’s preferred presidential candidate may have already been predetermined, reducing its internal democracy to a façade.

Oladejo said the episode reflected what he termed “a hollow coalition of contradictions” within the opposition.
