Honorable Mohammed Sani Gambo on Tuesday formally assumed office as the authentic state Chairman of the Kogi state People Democratic party,PDP.
This follows a Loloja Federal High court ruling of November 10,2025 in a suit no FRC/LKJ/CS/39/2024, declared Hon. Gambo the duly elected PDP Chairman after a contested congress and a series of legal battles. which ordered immediate recognition of Gambo.
The assumption of office follows the receipt of the Certified True Copy of the judgment.L on Monday.
Gambo was welcomed by a massive crowd of supporters, security agencies (Police, Civil Defence, DSS), and party leaders, amidst cheers at the party secretariat in Lokoja.
In his maiden speech, the Chairman affirmed Kogi as a “PDP state” and called for unity among members in order to win the 2027 elections.
“This a collective triumph for Kogi PDP. I thank elders of the party,our dear Senator Natasha Akpoti Udaughan (Kogi Central), former House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, for standing by the party during the legal fireworks, and the judiciary for standing as “the last hope of the common man.”
He pledged to reposition the party, recover lost ground, and bring back defectors from ADC, APC, and other parties.
Gambo also highlighted a “blueprint” to transform the PDP into an unbeatable force in Kogi, promising an open‑door policy, inclusivity, and relentless pursuit of development.
He urged aggrieved members to forget the past grievances and join the rebuilding effort.
Gambo finished second in the August 31, 2024, PDP congress, alleging that the ill-fated winner, Enemona Anyebe, was earlier barred by the Court from contesting.
The court, in its ruling on 10/11/2015, had ordered the immediate swearing‑in and recognition of Gambo’s majority votes after zoning arrangements were validated.
He vowed to retake Lugard House (State House) and contribute to the PDP’s quest for the Presidency in 2027.
