The Kaduna State Government has designated the last Saturday of every month as statewide Sanitation Day, unveiling a renewed cleanup campaign aimed at improving public health, promoting hygiene, and addressing environmental challenges across the state.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the government said the first exercise will hold on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 7:00am to 10:00am, across the state.
The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abubakar Buba, described the initiative as a decisive step toward building cleaner, safer, and healthier communities. He called on community leaders, local governments, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to mobilise residents and take responsibility for their immediate environment.
“A clean environment means a safer, healthier Kaduna State. We urge every resident to come out and take part,” Buba said.
He added that government monitoring teams would be deployed across the state to ensure smooth coordination and strong compliance.
Reiterating the importance of the exercise, the Commissioner for Information, Mal. Maiyaki, said the monthly sanitation aligns with Governor Uba Sani’s strategy to curb flooding, prevent environmental hazards, and safeguard public health.
“This is more than sweeping streets. It is a strategic, preventive action to stop floods, cut down environmental risks, and protect the wellbeing of our people.”
The government urged all residents to fully support the exercise, stressing that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and essential for building a healthier, more resilient Kaduna State.
