Kogi state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has distributed a total of 49 security vehicles to various agencies in Kogi State.

The distribution took place at the Lugard house seat of the state government in Lokoja on Monday.

While speaking, Governor Ododo emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring security, saying, “Your sacrifices and contributions reflect a deep understanding that security is a shared responsibility.”

According to Governor Ododo, the distribution of the vehicles is a result of the state government’s deliberate investment in strengthening and modernizing the security framework.

“We are beginning to see the result of our deliberate investment in training and modernizing the security framework of our state,” he said.

The Governor expressed gratitude to citizens who have donated vehicles and other resources to support security efforts, saying, “It is heartwarming to see more citizens rise to this occasion.”

He also appreciated the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying, “I also want to appreciate Mr. President for being very wonderful to us in Kogi State. We in Kogi State appreciate him and continue to show gratitude.”

The security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, have been working together in synergy, Governor Ododo noted, adding, “I appreciate all the security agencies… they are working together in synergy, that is why you can see us moving well.”

The distributed vehicles include 12 refurbished ones, 10 donated vehicles, and 27 motorcycles.

The Governor urged the security agencies to use the vehicles for the purpose they were intended, saying, “Let it be used for the purpose it was created for.”

The Executive Chairman of Kogi State Security Trust Fund AVM Omeiza Umar rtd commended Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s visionary leadership and proactive approach to security management, saying it has led to improved coordination and enhanced public confidence in the safety of lives and property.

AVM Omeiza in his words “This is a practical demonstration of the governors unwavering commitment to ensuring that every corner of Kogi State remains secure.” He said

He assured that the Trust Fund remains committed to mobilizing resources and providing sustainable support for the operational needs of security agencies, adding that the newly established logistics hub will serve as a nerve center for the Trust Fund’s operations.

The Chairman appealed to government, corporate bodies, and individuals to contribute generously toward the progress of the State Security Trust Fund saying, “Together, we can build a stronger foundation for the safety and security of our state.”

He also commended the security agencies for their dedication and sacrifices, saying, “It is our collective duty to continue to support and motivate them.”

Recall that similar vehicle distribution exercise was carried out early in the year when local vigilantes were given operational vehicles in all the 21 local government areas of the state.

However, the recent escalation in security breaches in virtually all the three senatorial districts ha called for renewed efforts to stem the tides hence the latest development aimed at improving the operational capacity of the security agencies in the state.
