The Young Progressives Party (YPP) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Paul Chukwuma, has accused Governor Charles Soludo of allegedly deploying state-backed militias and public funds to intimidate voters and compromise the forthcoming election.

In an interview with ARISE News, Chukwuma alleged that the governor had made “arrangements to violate various provisions of the Electoral Act” to tilt the polls in his favour.

“As we speak, the governor is using local government mayors and the so-called state militia, which he funds, to scuttle this election,” he claimed. “They’ve made hotel reservations across the state to camp these chaps.”

Chukwuma also accused Soludo of “weaponising hunger” and misusing taxpayers’ money for vote-buying. “The governor has opened the vault of the state. His only confidence in this election is on the state militia and taxpayers’ money,” he alleged.

He further described Anambra’s security situation as deteriorating, saying, “Every day, people are being kidnapped. Even a community representative was abducted recently.”

Chukwuma also criticised the poor state of education and health infrastructure. “In Anambra today, there are about 76 communities without a single government primary or secondary school,” he said, dismissing Soludo’s “Solution Agenda” as “mere branding without substance.”

He urged security agencies to investigate his allegations and ensure a credible, transparent election in the state.
