The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed six separate charges at the federal high court in Abuja against terror suspects linked to the deadly attacks on Yelwata village in Guma LGA of Benue state.

The attacks left several people dead and others injured.

The six charges involve nine suspects arrested through intelligence operations, though two of them face a four-count charge specifically tied to the Yelwata massacre.

The defendants are Haruna Adamu and Muhammad Abdullahi of Awe LGA, Nasarawa state, who were accused of carrying out attacks on Abinsi and Yelwata communities on June 13, 2025, alongside others still at large.

In another case, Terkende Ashuwa and Amos Alede of Guma LGA, Benue, were charged with three counts of allegedly carrying out reprisal attacks against suspects linked to Abinsi and Yelwata.

The duo were accused of attending and participating in a meeting that led to acts of terrorism, destroying private property that caused the loss of 12 cattle in Ukpam village.

They were also alleged to have received locally made guns and an AK-47 rifle from one Alhaji Uba to aid the commission of terrorism.

In a separate charge, Halima Haliru Umar, 32, of Faskari LGA, Katsina state, was arraigned on a four-count charge of concealing information about a suspected gun runner, Alhaji Sani, which could have aided his arrest.

The DSS alleged that she transported 302 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition for bandits in July 2025.

A 75-year-old man, Nanbol Tali, and another suspect, Timnan Manjo, were also charged with four counts for allegedly buying and selling two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles for N3 million.

They were further accused of purchasing three revolver rifles at N60,000 each from one Chomo for resale to bandits.

Separately, Danjuma Antu of Jos North, Plateau state, was charged with unlawful possession of two locally fabricated pistols capable of discharging 9mm rounds.

The DSS also filed a six-count charge against Silas Iduh Oloche of Agatu LGA, Benue state, for unlawful possession of 18 firearms, including grenades, and 683 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

No date has yet been fixed for the trial of the suspects.
