Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have conducted a successful intelligence-driven operation, dismantling multiple bandit hideouts and recovering critical logistics in Taraba State.

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Capt Olubodunde Oni, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, said that the operation, which was carried out tat the weekend, targeted a suspected meeting convened by Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, alias Bajor, a wanted notorious bandit leader, in the southern part of Wukari Local Government Area.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a swift and aggressive offensive in remote areas identified as strongholds of the Bajor-led syndicate. Upon arrival, the criminals, sensing imminent danger, fled, abandoning valuable items.

“The operation resulted in the destruction of key hideouts used for coordinating attacks and harbouring weapons. Troops recovered five operational motorcycles, suspected to have been used for rapid movement and raids on surrounding communities,” said.

The Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, stated that although Bajor and his cohorts narrowly escaped, troops remain on high alert and are actively tracking their movements.

He underscored the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to pursuing and neutralising criminal elements, threatening the peace and security of law-abiding citizens in Taraba State and beyond.

Uwa called on residents to continue providing timely and actionable information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s resolve to sustain pressure on terrorist enclaves, employing both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
