The Nasarawa State Government has announced that arrangement is in top gear for the impending one –day visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the State on Wednesday, during which some multi-billion-naira legacy projects undertaken by the Abdullahi Sule administration would be commissioned.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Tanko Ibrahim made the announcement Tuesday in Lafia while addressing journalists on the visit of the president.

According to him, the president will arrive at the Usman Danfodio Airport in Lafia, after which he will proceed to inaugurate the under/overhead bridge project in the state capital.

“The president will be received at the Usman Danfodio Airport in Lafia and will proceed to commission the under/overhead Lafia bridge. After which, the president will pay homage to the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, rtd, at his palace,” Tanko said.

He added that the commissioning will continue with the launch of newly acquired tractors and the Shendam dual carriageway, followed by the ultra-modern state secretariat complex along Shendam Road.

According to him, Tinubu’s visit will conclude with a town hall meeting with key stakeholders at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, located within the Government House, also along Shendam Road.

Tanko emphasised that all the projects were funded solely by the Governor Abdullahi Sule administration without resorting to loans.

The commissioner also urged residents of Lafia to come out in large numbers to give President Tinubu a warm welcome.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Command has announced traffic diversions in Lafia as part of security arrangements for the presidential visit.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Rahman Nansel, in a statement on Tuesday, said there would be restrictions on movement from Tuesday, June 24, to Wednesday, June 25, from 6:00 pm to 6:00am.

“Vehicles coming into Lafia from the Akwanga axis would be diverted at Mechanic Village, Azuba, to pass through the bypass, Akurba, Mararaba Akunza, and connect to the Makurdi Road,” Nansel stated.

He added that motorists from the Makurdi end would be rerouted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.

The police assured residents of adequate security throughout the visit.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the support of residents and motorists during this period,” the statement read.
