Protest rocks Federal Ministry of Finance for Unpaid Emoluments, Allowances

    Published on

Members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are currently holding a protest at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to reports, the demonstration is tied to unpaid allowance arrears owed to workers affiliated with the TUC, led by Festus Osifo.

When our correspondent arrived at the protest site, many demonstrators were seen wearing red T-shirts, and the main entrance of the ministry was in a state of disarray.

Several staff vehicles were parked along the roadside, causing increased traffic congestion in the area.

Security personnel from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command were present to maintain order.

TUC General Secretary, Nuhu Toro, was seen at the scene but declined to provide details about the protest.

One protester, who asked to remain anonymous, said, “Our office has been shut down. We’re not even fully aware of what’s going on.”

As of the time of this report, the Ministry of Finance had yet to respond publicly or clarify the union’s specific demands.

It’s worth noting that this protest follows a recent demonstration at the same location by members of the Nigerian Legion over unpaid pensions.
