    Mercy Johnson explains weight loss ‘I had cancer scare, underwent thyroid surgery’

    Mercy Johnson-Okojie, a Nollywood actress, has talked candidly about her health issues and abrupt weight reduction.

    According to reports the movie star recently caused controversy on social media due to her dramatic weight loss.

    During a recent interview with veteran actress Joke Silva, Okojie revealed that she had a thyroid ectomy surgery after having a cancer scare.

    “I had my thyroid removed after I had a cancer scare,” she stated. My husband and I kept saying, “We have to realize this is the new us, let’s go get the surgery done,” because we had children and my lastborn was six months old at the time.

    “They informed us when we arrived that I would need to take medicine for the remainder of my life. We had to sit down, and they explained the negative effects and insisted that I take my medication as prescribed. I’m making peace with what you’re saying about [my weight loss]. At this moment, you realize that we are where we are; let’s move on and remain in our comfort zone.
