Clarifying the Facts: Upholding Integrity in NANS Leadership

    Published on

The immediate past Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has addressed recent misinformation surrounding the association’s leadership. He clarified that Atiku Isah, falsely presented as NANS President, neither participated in the most recent election nor held any prior statutory position within the organization—a mandatory requirement for such a role.

He emphasized that the last NANS convention, held on February 26, 2025, was peaceful, transparent, and widely praised for its credibility, with no reported incidents of violence. This milestone was a significant step in repositioning NANS as a respected student body. The emergence of a parallel leadership claim mere days after the convention follows a familiar pattern of deliberate misinformation aimed at destabilizing the association.

The former Senate President stressed that this issue transcends mere titles; it is about safeguarding the integrity of student leadership and upholding due process. NANS remains committed to transparent governance and will not tolerate attempts to undermine its democratic processes.
