Tinubu was unhappy with his 4% Abia vote,  Orji Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia State and the senator for Abia North in the National Assembly, says the South East shouldn’t be excluded from the advantages of being a part of the mainstream political landscape.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Kalu expressed his displeasure that President Bola Tinubu received only 4% of the vote in Abia State as a whole in the 2023 presidential election.

He pointed out that given the variety of personalities the APC had in Abia State at the time of the polls, the President’s only 4% overall score was concerning.

He urged APC members to get together and concentrate on helping the APC win in Abia in 2027.

The senator from Abia North claimed that Governor Otti was not included in the discussions and that the purpose of the stakeholders’ meeting he called at his home in Abuja was to encourage unity among APC members and to rally the support of Abia APC members for the party.

While stating that only the electorate can choose the fate of the leaders, Kalu utilized the statement to make it clear that he did not criticize Governor Alex Otti or his performance. He also insisted that he does not publicly discuss his successors in office.

For instance, President Buhari won 68% of the vote in our constituency when I joined the APC in 2019, but President Tinubu returned to Abia in 2023 with a mere 4% of the vote, expressing dissatisfaction with the state’s political performance.

“We can only make 4% because he has buddies like me and other people who are his friends. Even I find it hard to believe.

Kalu stated that the entire South East must be seated where other Nigerians are.
