Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has authorized N872.3 million as the state’s matching contribution to the Primary Healthcare Basket Fund.
Deputy Governor Mohammed Auwal Jatau made the news at a State Task Force on Primary Healthcare meeting.
He said that the government’s strong commitment to enhancing health services, infrastructure, and support for frontline workers throughout the state is evidenced by the more than N261 million that has already been made available to support the state’s healthcare board.
According to Jatau, the meeting’s objectives were to discuss updates on the 2025 operating plan, assess the results of earlier health programs, and get ready for the April National Immunization Plus Days.
He gave medals to people and health facilities for exceptional service and praised volunteers and healthcare professionals for their commitment.
Jatau promised that as part of its efforts to attain universal health coverage, the government would keep funding healthcare, particularly for women and children.
In order to improve healthcare in Bauchi, he also praised the efforts of development partners and urged further cooperation.
Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, the Emir of Dass and the task force’s co-chair, also praised the advancements in the state’s health initiatives.
