US To Consider Social Media Posts In Granting Visas, Residence Permits

    Published on

The United States government has announced that social media posts will be considered in the process of granting or denying visa or residence permit applications. This includes content that may be deemed anti-Semitic by the Trump administration, such as posts supporting or promoting militant groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Huthi insurgents, which are classified as terrorist organizations by the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized that anyone attempting to use the First Amendment to advocate for anti-Semitic violence or terrorism will not be allowed into the country. Social media activity supporting anti-Semitic terrorism or related groups will be viewed negatively in visa and permanent residence applications.

This new policy takes effect immediately, impacting student visas and green card requests. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also revealed that approximately 300 visas have already been revoked, and the process is ongoing.
