Zelenskyy claims that Russia committed more than 183,000 war crimes in Ukraine

On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for Russia to be held accountable for the more over 183,000 war crimes that Ukraine has documented since Moscow’s invasion in 2022, stating that justice was necessary to stop evil from spreading.

At a European gathering in Bucha, northwest of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, where Russian troops have been accused of committing crimes like torture, rapes, and executions during their occupation, Zelenskyy made this claim.

Despite not responding to Zelenskyy’s comments after business hours, Russia has disputed that its military have committed atrocities in the past and claimed that the West has disregarded Ukraine’s crimes, a claim Kyiv has refuted.

“On the third anniversary of the expulsion of Russian troops from Bucha, Zelenskyy declared that over 183,000 crimes pertaining to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine have been officially documented.”

The Ukrainian leader added that the majority of the Ukrainian area that Russia presently controls is not included in the total that Ukraine has recorded since the full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Effective international legislation is necessary to ensure that our citizens and the entire European society are shielded from these dangers.

“In order to stop evil from spreading, justice must be done. In order to prevent the war and abuse from spreading further, Zelenskyy stated that sanctions and pressure on Russia are required.
