In a coordinated series of raids in the first quarter of 2025, the Nigeria Police Force claims to have rescued 21 abducted victims, arrested important suspects, and seized a cache of weapons and illegal monies.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, made this announcement in an Abuja statement on Monday.

Adejobi said the raids signified a substantial escalation in the fight against criminal elements threatening the safety and security of Nigerian citizens.

The majority of the operations, according to the Force spokesman, were conducted in Taraba State. On March 29, 2025, police officers affiliated with the State Command led a successful operation along the Takum-Mararaba Road.

He claimed that the agents quickly responded to an ongoing kidnapping in Muji Town while working with other security authorities.

Twenty abducted victims were rescued as a result of the intense gunfight that followed, along with all of the cars that had been left at the location. Medical attention is currently being given to two of the injured people.

Following the kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau in Kano State, a thorough investigation was initiated on March 8, 2025, and it resulted in a number of arrests.

Technical analysis enabled state Anti-Kidnapping Squad police officers to capture Tukur Lawal, also known as Maikudi, on March 18 and 19. They were joined by accomplices Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim.

Authorities found N4,840,000 in cash, which they assume to be ransom money, and a locally manufactured gun in their custody. He said, “The victim was reunited with his family after being rescued without any injuries.”
