Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly and wife of music star Innocent Idibia, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Naija News reports that the Edo lawmaker officially joined the party on Thursday at the NDC national headquarters in Abuja alongside former Gombe State Deputy Governor John Yoriyo and other politicians. They were received by party leaders including former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson.

Before announcing her defection, Osawaru had already declared her intention to seek another term in the Edo State House of Assembly to continue representing Egor Constituency.

She made the announcement through her Instagram page, where she also revealed that she would contest the election under the platform of the NDC.

The 31-year-old politician said the party was focused on serving the people and bringing change. In one of her campaign materials circulating online, she also played with the initials of the party’s name by describing NDC as “Natasha Don Come.”

Osawaru said she believed her move to the party, together with support from the people in her constituency, would help bring development to Edo State.

She also promised to focus on youth empowerment, security, welfare and governance if re-elected in 2027.

The lawmaker also publicly declared support for the presidential ambition of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi. She shared photos of herself with the former Labour Party presidential candidate and called on Nigerians to support him.
