Attack by Russia on Ukraine ruins homes, injures one person

    Published on

The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was the target of Russia’s third consecutive overnight airstrike, which damaged multiple homes in the area and injured one person.

In a post on the Telegram messaging app, Kyiv’s regional governor, Mykola Kalashnyk, stated on Monday that a 37-year-old man had been hit by shrapnel, resulting in injuries to his head and upper body.

Kalashnyk stated, “The individual has been admitted to the hospital.”

Russia’s attack in the southern Zaporizhzhia region late Sunday injured a 54-year-old lady and damaged windows of residential and multi-story structures, the region’s government stated on Telegram.

In order to discuss ways to guarantee the safety of commerce in the Black Sea, a Ukrainian delegation met with U.S. officials for peace talks in Saudi Arabia and ahead of Russia-U.S. discussions there on Monday.

By April 20, the United States is reportedly hoping to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire in the conflict and is pressing for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Both sides have, however, reported ongoing strikes in spite of the ceasefire initiative.

At the time this article was filed, Russia had not immediately responded, and it was unclear how big the nocturnal onslaught was.

Meanwhile, in the conflict that Russia initiated with its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, both sides have denied on numerous occasions that they are targeting civilians.

Kyiv, the surrounding area, and the eastern part of Ukraine were under air raid alerts for many hours beginning late Sunday, according to Ukraine’s air force maps.
