Lee Zeldin, the head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, revoked 400 grants totaling $1.9 billion in Environmental Justice and DEI.

In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, Zeldin revealed this, pointing out that the funding cancellations affected nine distinct programs.

The development coincides with the Department of Government Efficiency’s investigation into the organization.

He estimated that the experiment will save the agency $2 billion in total.

“I am canceling more than 400 grants totaling $1.7 billion from nine grant programs related to diversity, fairness, and inclusion and environmental justice, increasing @EPA’s overall savings to more than $2 billion!

He declared, “This fourth round of EPA/Doge cuts was our biggest yet.”

DOGE responded, saying, “Excellent effort. A consulting firm was awarded $3.2 million to “develop a reporting system to collect data on Justice40, the EJ scorecard, and other EJECR reporting asks” as part of these cancellations of non-essential grants and contracts.
