EFCC questions former minister Kennedy-Ohanenye over alleged fraud

    Published on

The immediate former Minister for Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, was questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, on Thursday regarding her alleged involvement in the misappropriation, procurement process violations, and diversion of public funds totaling N138.4 million during the distribution of the ministry’s 2023 budgeted funds.

Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, the former minister reportedly showed up at the EFCC offices, where she was interrogated about her suspected involvement in the scam.

Funds donated for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were reportedly misappropriated for her own profit, according to EFCC investigations.

She was one of the ministers whom President Bola Tinubu removed of their positions in October 2024, as you may remember.

On August 21, 2023, Tinubu named Uju Kennedy Ohanenye Minister of Women Affairs.
