Senate tells Natasha to follow rules because she won’t defend Akpabio’s entry

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central was counseled by the Senate on Thursday to adhere to and respect the legislative branch’s rules and regulations.

According to Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno, who rose on Order 55(1), “it is the Rules and Order of the Senate that all senators must stand up when the Senate President is being ushered into the chamber by the Sergeant-at-arms.”

The chief whip expressed concern that Natasha disregarded the Senate’s Rules and Order on Wednesday and Thursday by failing to rise as other senators did when Akpabio arrived in the chamber.

He urged the female lawmaker to follow the rules no matter what, emphasizing that the institution must always be safeguarded.

Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, upheld the directive and asked all senators to follow it.
