According to French President Emmanuel Macron, peace cannot imply Ukraine’s capitulation.
Macron warned against a world where the law of the strongest wins at a joint news conference with Trump at the White House on Monday.
“This peace cannot imply Ukraine’s capitulation. In addition to fighting for its independence and sovereignty, Ukraine has been fighting for our common security over the past few years.
“I don’t think anyone in this room wants to live in a world where international borders can be crossed at any time and it’s the law of the strongest,” Macron stated.
The French president’s remarks came after the Trump administration pushed for a speedy conclusion to the conflict, which started three years ago when Russia invaded its neighbor, and established communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In stark contrast to Joe Biden, his predecessor, Trump is advocating at the UN for a resolution that calls for an end to fighting without mentioning Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
