Six people have been confirmed dead, and one person injured in two separate road accidents in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday and Friday.

The first accident occurred at midnight on Thursday at Idi-Ose Bus Stop, along the new Ibadan/Oyo expressway in Akinyele Local Government Area. A motor boy, who was riding at the back of a trailer loaded with cows, was killed when the trailer veered off the road. The victim, who had fallen asleep, hit his head on the ground and died at the scene.

The second crash took place around midnight on Friday near the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) filling station at Ojoo/Iwo-Road in the Ibadan North East Local Government Area. A Nissan Micra car, carrying five passengers, collided with a long truck. All five passengers died, and one individual sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bodies of the victims were evacuated by relevant government agencies. The identities of the victims, including the car’s driver, remain unknown.

Rosemary Alo, the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, confirmed the incidents. She stated that 12 people were involved in the crash near the NNPCL filling station, with five fatalities, one injury, and six people escaping unhurt.

The injured victim was taken to Metrol Hospital, while the vehicle involved in the crash was towed to Akobo Police Station. Alo urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules to prevent further accidents.
