Officers from Zone 7 Command and the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja have successfully carried out an operation, according to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
113 foreign nationals engaged in advanced cybercrime crimes, such as internet fraud and marketing schemes, were arrested as a result of the operation, according to a statement signed by Police spokesman ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi via X on Monday.
The statement claims that the arrests occurred in Jahi, Abuja, on November 3, 2024, as part of an operation that turned up important evidence that was essential to the syndicate’s cyber activities.
During the operation, several laptops, smartphones, and tablets were found, along with a Toyota Tundra car. Drones, routers, and high-capacity servers; specialized gaming consoles and cyber equipment Travel documents, passports, and identity cards are processed centrally.
“The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has arraigned the 113 foreign nationals facing serious charges, including computer-related fraud, unlawful access to data, marketing scams, money laundering, conspiracy, and illegal immigration, before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja as a follow-up to the investigation and recoveries, compiled with credible evidence against the suspects,” the statement reads.
“These accused were arraigned after thorough investigations revealed their alleged involvement in illegal operations ranging from human trafficking networks to immigration offenses and cybercrime.
“The Nigeria Police Force will keep up its close collaboration with foreign law enforcement organizations and embassies in order to combat cybercrime and other types of transnational criminal activity, track down and prosecute cybercriminals, and make sure that those responsible are held accountable under Nigerian law”.
