JAMB Relaxes Age Limit For 2024/2025 Admission

    Published on

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Thursday has relaxed the age limit for admission into tertiary institutions.

According to JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin, institutions can now admit candidates who will turn 16 by August 31, 2025, provided they meet the institution’s standards.

This relaxation of the age limit is aimed at ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates and preventing disproportionate benefits for those admitted towards the end of the 2024/2025 admission period.

The JAMB spokesman emphasized that this relaxation would not compromise the standards or infringe on the individual institution’s admission policy.

The decision is a significant step towards increasing access to tertiary education and providing opportunities for younger students to pursue their academic goals.

Institutions have been requested to submit the list of candidates who would be 16 years old between January 1 and August 31, 2025, and are eligible for admission, within a week from the date of the letter.
