Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has urged the Nigerian Army to establish a Forward Operation Base (FOB) in the eastern part of the state to address rising criminal activities. The call was made during a meeting with Major General Farooq Mijinyawa, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, at the governor’s office in Abeokuta.

Abiodun emphasized that the commercial boom in Ogun East, particularly with the new airport, has also led to increased criminal activity. He noted that a military base would deter criminals migrating from neighboring states, especially in areas like Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode, which have experienced conflicts involving cultists.

The governor highlighted the need for rapid military response to ensure peace in the state, adding that security is critical for sustaining economic growth. He assured the Nigerian Army of full state support for establishing the base.

Major General Mijinyawa thanked the governor for his continued support of the Army, pledging to intensify efforts to maintain peace in Ogun State.
