Adamawa APC Rejects Tribunal Verdict, Vows to Appeal Fintiri’s Victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has firmly rejected the tribunal’s ruling affirming Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as the validly elected governor, in a case brought by its candidate, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, also known as Aishatu Binani.

The Adamawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld Fintiri’s victory in a judgment delivered on Saturday. The tribunal stated that the APC and its gubernatorial candidate, Binani, failed to substantiate their case against Fintiri. Furthermore, it found that the resident electoral commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, who had, at one point, declared Binani the winner while announcing results, had committed a criminal act.

In response to the tribunal’s decision, the state chairman of the APC, Idris Shuaibu, expressed his shock and disappointment. He emphasized that they still have faith in the legal process and have two more options available following the tribunal’s ruling.

“We have hope, as we have two more avenues after the tribunal to express our grievances and for the tribunal judgment to be upturned,” Shuaibu stated. He added that the APC would collaborate with the national leadership to obtain the certified record of the judgment, carefully study it, and proceed with an appeal.

Shuaibu asserted, “This judgment is not the true reflection of Adamawa voters’ mandate.” He encouraged party members to remain calm, expressing appreciation for their support. He concluded by emphasizing the party’s determination to explore all legal avenues to secure their mandate.
