In the wake of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPC) validating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election and Kashim Shettima’s position as Vice President in the 2023 presidential poll, Kashim Shettima has hailed the Nigerian judiciary as a steadfast guardian of justice and fairness. Following the lengthy legal proceedings that lasted nearly 14 to 15 hours, Shettima expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian people and the leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Shettima emphasized the significance of the ruling, describing it as a momentous day for Nigeria. He commended the Nigerian judiciary for proving itself as a protector of justice and fairness in the face of challenges and distractions. The Vice President highlighted the importance of honoring and cherishing the dignity of every individual and called on all Nigerians to unite in solidarity.

He praised the diligence, thoroughness, and professionalism of the five-member bench, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, in interpreting the law.
President Tinubu affirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and recognized the Tribunal’s respect for the merits of the petitions brought before it. He highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s legal system’s continued growth and maturation and its role in advancing Africa’s largest democracy, especially at a time when democratic systems in other parts of the continent are facing challenges.
