Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, alongside former governors Obong Victor Attah and Senator Godswill Akpabio, expressed gratitude for the peace and unity in the state during the 37th anniversary celebrations of its creation. The leaders spoke on Sunday at a special inter-denominational thanksgiving service held at the International Worship Centre in Uyo.
In his remarks, Governor Eno emphasized his administration’s commitment to fostering peace and unity among the state’s diverse interests. He stated, “For me, I came in peace, as a servant of the people, and my prayer is that God will continue to guide me in this work.”
Eno acknowledged the shared heritage and common purpose among Akwa Ibomites, noting, “We are bound by the love of our people to thank God that this state belongs to all of us.” He also paid tribute to former Military Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida for responding to the call of Akwa Ibom’s founding fathers to create the state.
Former governor Obong Attah expressed pride in the state’s growth since its inception and praised Eno for his efforts in uniting the people. Similarly, Senator Godswill Akpabio, represented by his wife, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio, prayed for the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of Akwa Ibom, commending the bond among traditional rulers across the state’s 31 local government areas.
As the state commemorates its 37th anniversary, the leaders’ reflections and prayers highlight a collective commitment to uphold the values of unity and progress for Akwa Ibom.
