As agitations for the 2027 governorship seat continue across Kwara State, youths from the state’s North Senatorial District, under the aegis of the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum, have joined the call, urging all political parties to zone their gubernatorial tickets to Kwara North in the spirit of fairness and inclusiveness.
According to the Chairman of the forum, Abduldayan Haruna, and other speakers at an event in Ilorin, the state capital, such a decision would not only uphold justice but also strengthen the bond of brotherhood among the people of the state.
Since 1999, Kwara North has consistently contributed to the democratic process but, unlike Kwara Central, which has largely dominated state leadership, the region is yet to produce a governor. This imbalance, the forum noted, fuels renewed demands for equity and balance as the 2027 general elections approach.
Party elders at the event also lent their voices to the call, stressing that zoning the governorship seat to Kwara North would give the district a greater sense of belonging, having supported other regions over the years.
The agitation highlights the determination of Kwara North to finally clinch the state’s top political seat. However, the outcome ultimately rests on party structures and political negotiations as the 2027 polls draw closer.
