    2025 Women’s AfroBasket: D’Tigress defeat mali to retain title

    Nigeria’s D’Tigress once again proved their dominance on the continent, defeating Mali to retain their crown in the final of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket Championship held in Ivory Coast.

    The encounter started with the Nigerian ladies setting the tempo, but Mali fought back to edge the first quarter 26–21. D’Tigress responded strongly in the second quarter, leveling the score at 41–41 by halftime.

    The defending champions came alive in the third quarter, taking control of the game before sealing an impressive 78–64 victory after a fiercely contested final quarter.

    With this win, D’Tigress successfully defended their title, making it five consecutive AfroBasket triumphs — a historic feat in African women’s basketball.

    Following their successful outing and retaining the title for the fifth time, Nigerians are urged president Ahmed Bola Tinubu to also extend the good gesture of the Nigeria super falcons of 100,000 Dollars , house and national honour to the D’Tigress.

    Congratulating the Nation basketballer for their victory over Mali , the Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports, H. E. Comrade Philip Shaibu appealed to the president to extend his good gesture as a father of the nation to the ladies for doing Nigerians proud at the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket for a successive five times.

    He also commended the coaching crew and the Musa kida led federation for bringing honour to the country.

    President Ahmed Bola Tinubu last honoured the victorious super falcons with national honour, 3-bed room and a 100,000 dollars each to the players .

    The president gesture has generated mid feelings amid huger , hardship in the country.

    However, Nigerians are patiently waiting for the out come of the Nigeria D’Tigress reception by the president.
