The curtains have fallen on the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Nationwide season, with four impressive sides securing promotion to the NWFL Championship for the 2026 campaign.

Dreamstar Ladies of Lagos capped a stellar comeback to the second tier, topping Group A to earn an immediate return to the Championship. They were joined by Rangers Women of Enugu, who made history by clinching promotion in their debut season, a feat that underscores the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria.

In Group B, Solo Wonders FC of Akwa Ibom emerged champions after an impressive run of form, while Rosaria Victrix FC of Imo State claimed the runners-up slot, both teams also achieving promotion in their maiden campaigns.

The four promoted clubs; Dreamstar Ladies, Rangers Women, Solo Wonders, and Rosaria Victrix have earned their places among Nigeria’s rising forces in women’s football, finishing in the top two of their respective groups to secure tickets to the 2026 NWFL Championship.

Reflecting on the successful conclusion of the 2025 women’s football season, which spanned the NWFL Premiership, Championship, and Nationwide, the Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Modupe Shabi, expressed deep satisfaction with the league’s smooth execution and overall progress.

“The 2025 season has been a remarkable journey for the NWFL. From the Premiership through the Championship to the Nationwide, we have witnessed exceptional football, renewed competitiveness, and inspiring stories of resilience and growth across the country,”
    Shabi said.

She commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), under the leadership of President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for its unwavering support and continued efforts to strengthen women’s football structures nationwide.

Shabi also disclosed that preparations are already underway for an early kickoff of the 2025/2026 season, with new innovations and a more dynamic league format designed to sustain the momentum and elevate standards across all divisions.

“We owe immense gratitude to the NFF President and his board for their vision and commitment, which continue to drive the growth of the women’s game. Our appreciation equally goes to the host communities, clubs, administrators, state FAs, match officials, and the media, every stakeholder who contributed to this season’s success,” she added.

The completion of the 2025 NWFL season stands as a testament to the league’s unwavering commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and development, as women’s football in Nigeria continues to grow in stature, professionalism, and impact across the nation.
