A significant fire erupted at a residential complex located in London’s affluent South Kensington area during the early hours of Friday, resulting in 11 individuals being hospitalized and approximately 130 residents evacuated, according to fire officials.
Responding to the incident, fifteen fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters were dispatched to the scene at a terraced house, converted into apartments, situated on Emperor’s Gate in southwest London, near the Natural History Museum.
Upon arrival, firefighters found half of the ground floor of the five-story building engulfed in flames. The London Fire Brigade reported that the fire had spread from the ground floor to the upper levels and the roof, with crews diligently working to contain it and prevent further spread to neighboring structures, stated Station Commander Steve Collins, who was present at the scene.
The fire service confirmed that approximately 11 individuals were treated for smoke inhalation and subsequently transported to hospitals for further medical attention.
