The 10th Senate, which is chaired by Godswill Akpabio, has reported that it will now reconvene on May 6, 2025, instead of April 29, 2025, as previously planned.
According to reports, an internal document sent to all senators on April 20, 2025, disclosed the decision.
The email, which was signed by Andrew Ogbonna Nwoba, the Clerk of the 10th Senate, stated that the postponement was necessary to provide parliamentarians more time for important constituency visits and to accommodate the approaching International Workers’ Day vacation on May 1.
Distinguished Senators, I am directed to notify you that the Senate’s plenary sessions, which were originally planned to resume on Monday, April 29, 2025, have been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, per the circular. The purpose of this postponement is to further improve constituent interactions and enable distinguished senators to remain with their constituents during the first week of May, which is International Workers’ Day, a public holiday.
“Distinguished Senators, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused and ask that you take note of this postponement,” the message went on.
Notably, the Senate had already adjourned on March 27, 2025, so that lawmakers may commemorate Eid-El-Fitr and Easter.
