    Winners of Bayelsa Robotics Challenge get Prizes as BEDTF charges them to think global

    Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (BEDTF) Board, Dr (Mrs) Alice A. Atuwo has charged students who came tops in 2024 Bayelsa Robotics Challenge to be global citizens.

     

    According to Atuwo, this they can do by improving themselves in identifying areas of interest to build greater capacity and with the world.

     

    The Executive Secretary gave the charge at the weekend during the presentation of cash prizes to the winners of the challenge at the Conference room of the Ministry of Education in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

     

    Atuwo rendered apologies on behalf of the BEDTF Board for not presenting the prizes immediately after the competition that covered robotic, micro bits and core values.

     

    She urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity at their disposal to contribute meaningful for the benefit of Bayelsa and the world at large.

     

    In his remarks, Acting Chairman of the BEDTF, Prof Francis Sikoki reiterated that programmes of this sort were targeted at ensuring that students are well equipped to be self reliant and meet up the expectations in the labour market.

     

    Sikoki commended the winners for putting their best to emerge outstanding.

     

    He advised mentors and Principals to continue to keep the robotics training in their schools saying artificial intelligence now rules the world.

     

    Prizes for the Bayelsa Robotics Challenge 2024 winners includes:

     

    CATEGORY 1: ROBOTICS

    1st position: Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Ovom

     

    2nd position: Bayelsa Sports Academy, Asoama

     

    3rd Position: Captain Owonaro Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama

     

    CATEGORY 2: MICRO BITS

    1st position: Government Model Secondary School, Ogbia

     

    2nd position: St Judes Girls Secondary School, Amarata

     

    3rd position: Government Model Secondary School, Ekeremor

     

    CATEGORY 3: CORE VALUE

    1st position: Government Model Secondary School, Ogbia

     

    2nd position: Nembe National Grammar School, Nembe

     

    3rd position: Akpalakpa Grammar School, Ukubie

     

    The first positions received N 150,000 (One hundred and fifty thousand naira), second positions got N100,000 (One hundred thousand naira) while the third positions went home with N50,000 (Fifty thousand naira) in each of the categories.

     

    Responding on behalf of the recipients, Principal of Government Model Secondary School, Ogbia , Mr. Robins Ibegu thanked the EDTF for fulfilling the promise of rewarding the winning schools, saying it would spur the students in future competitions.

    Ibegu attributed the success of his team to hard work, team spirit and determination.
